New 3kVDC isolated 1W DC-DC converters assure short-circuit protection

Murata Power Solutions' MMV1 3kVDC isolated 1W DC-DC converters are now available from Mouser stock. The units are high-efficiency versions of the established NMV series which 'guarantee' short-circuit protection across their operating temperature range of -40C to +85C, says the company. Short circuits of less than 1ohm cause the converter to enter a 'foldback' limiting mode in which the input current is approximately 100mA for MMV1S0505SC and 45mA for MMV1S0524SC. Protection is continuous and auto-resetting on removal of the short circuit.
