Lowest-profile and smallest tantalum surface-mount capacitors feature fuse function

Based on lead frameless face-down technology, AVX's F98-AS1 Series tantalum capacitors with fuse function are now available from Digi-Key. The devices have higher capacitance in a smaller size because of packing larger tantalum anodes than conventional J-LEAD type fused caps. The 0805 (2012 metric) fused type is the smallest on the market for fused tantalum SMD devices, and the 0.9mm maximum height is the thinnest in the market, says the company. They protect from large inrush current by stable and reliable fuse activation at short-circuit failure. They also have low and flat impedance over a wide frequency range due to low ESL by lead-frameless structure. Applications include industrial equipment, automotive electronics and mobile phones.
