Specifically designed to improve the precision of low-frequency vibration and motion in automotive applications, PCB Piezotronics has introduced a new series of MEMS DC response accelerometers. Offered in full-scale ranges from ±2g to ±200g, the accelerometers are available in single axis (Series 3711E and Series 3741E) and triaxial (Series 3713E) configurations. "The new MEMS DC Response Accelerometer series features low spectral noise, and high resolution, which makes them ideal for a wide variety of automotive testing applications including durability, ride and handling, and many others," said Rob Mydzian, product marketing manager of PCB's Automotive Sensors Division. The new robust units include gas-damped, silicon MEMS sensing elements for repeatable performance and offer high-frequency overload protection. Series 3711E and Series 3713E have a hermetically sealed titanium case, and Series 3741E units have rugged anodized aluminium housing, enabling them to perform in harsh environments. Electrically, the units include a single-ended (Series 3711E and Series 3713E) or differential (Series 3741E) output signal with power, signal, and ground leads for each channel. Supply voltage regulation permits operation from +6VDC to +30VDC and the low-noise, low-impedance output signal may be transmitted over long cable lengths without degradation.
