Miniature wire-to-board connector for high-power LED lighting applications

A new low-profile wire-to-board connector suitable for use in high-power LED lighting applications, the DF59M Series has been introduced by Hirose. The single-pole DF59M Series connector offers a high current capacity of 6 Amps at 350 V AC/DC and accommodates 22-28 AWG wire. This tiny connector features a narrow 5.9mm (0.23") x 2.6mm (0.10") footprint and low profile that minimizes LED light shadowing. The horizontal-mating DF59M Series has a snap-in mating structure that provides a positive lock strength of 16N and two clear indicators of secure mating: an audible click and tactile snap. With three points of contact, the connector provides optimum contact reliability by stabilizing contact resistance. "The low-profile DF59M Series provides significant advantages over competing products including smaller size, higher power rating and stronger locking mechanism," said Rick van Weezel, vice-president of sales and marketing, Hirose Electric USA. "This connector is ideal for use in applications with space constraints, such as linear LED and COB type products used in confined spaces." The DF59M Series is RoHS-compliant and UL-recognized, making it ideal for LED lighting, tablet PC, small size battery, printer, and multi-functional copier office machine applications, says the company.
