Z-Comm – Latest VCO features linear tuning suits low phase noise applications (V846ME24-LF)
Oct 1 2012 - Passives [More Passives Articles]A new RoHS compliant voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), the S-band V846ME24-LF has been introduced by Z-Communications. The V846ME24-LF operates at 3100 to 3500MHz with a tuning voltage range of 1 to 12VDC and provides better than 1.1:1 tuning linearity. The high performance VCO features a spectrally clean signal of -114dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset and a typical tuning sensitivity of 62MHz/V.
The V846ME24-LF is designed to deliver 3dBm of output power into a 50ohm load while operating off a 5VDC supply and drawing typically 22mA of current. This low noise VCO operates over the extended commercial temperature range of -30C to 80C. The V846ME24-LF features typical second harmonic suppression of -20dBc and comes in Z-Comm.’s standard, low profile MINI-14H-L package measuring 0.5 in. x 0.5 in. x 0.13 in. It is available in tape and reel packaging for production requirements making it ideal for automated surface mount assembly and reflow.
The V846ME24-LF is well suited to radio broadcast links and satellite communication applications that require low phase noise performance, says the company.
