Z-Comm – Ultra-compact VCO features low power consumption (USSP1217-LF)
Sep 17 2012 - Design & Manufacture [More Design & Manufacture Articles]Z-Communications has announced a new RoHS-compliant L-band voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), the USSP1217-LF. The device operates at 1210 to 1230MHz with a tuning voltage range of 0.5 to 3VDC. The miniaturized VCO features phase noise of -102dBc/Hz at 10kHz offset while operating off a 3.3VDC supply and typically drawing only 13mA of current.
The USSP1217-LF provides the end user an output power of 3±3dBm into a 50ohm load while operating over the industrial temperature range of -40 to 85C. The robust device suppresses the second harmonic to better than -13dBc and covers the frequency range with a tuning linearity of better than 1.1:1. The USSP1217-LF comes in Z-Comm’s standard USSP package measuring a mere 0.2 in. x 0.2 in. x 0.06 in. It is available in tape and reel packaging for production requirements making it ideal for automated surface-mount assembly and reflow.
The USSP1217-LF is ideal for mobile radio and satellite communication applications that require minimal power consumption as well as low phase noise, says the company.
