TEKO – Slimline enclosures accept PCBs populated with surface-mount components (Pocket-Card)
Sep 27 2012 - Subs & Systems [More Subs & Systems Articles]The ‘Pocket-Card’ enclosure, from TEKO, is similar in size to a credit card, yet deep enough to accept a PCB populated with surface-mount components. They are designed for small mobile devices such as remote controls, medical devices, exposure level monitors, and identity or security electronics.
The enclosures are moulded in off-white or black ABS (UL 94 HB). The external dimensions are 85mm x 54mm x 10mm, and the recommended PCB size is 79.5mm x 49.6mm. The top moulding is recessed for fitting a membrane keypad or product label. The enclosures are assembled by a single self-tapping screw, but can also be glued together to avoid tampering using the four internal pillars provided.
There are eight individual models available. Options include a pre-moulded slot for a keypad ribbon cable and an aperture in one end for fitting an infra-red LED. The enclosures can be supplied fully customised with additional holes for push-buttons, connectors and controls, plus silk-screen printed legends and logos. The cases can also be moulded in alternative colours, says the company.
