Sep 6 2012 - Design & Manufacture [More Design & Manufacture Articles]The PLXO-100-XA, from EM Research, is a phase-locked crystal oscillator operating at 100MHz and features an internal reference-detect switch. When no reference is connected to the device, the reference detect switch automatically engages a 10MHz internal TCXO, providing uninterrupted use of the PLXO-100. Otherwise, the device Locks to an external 10MHz frequency reference and exhibits exceptionally-low phase noise (-142dBc/Hz at 1KHz offset), low spurs (-70dBc), 0dBm output power on a supply voltage of +12VDC.
EM Research offers the PLXO Series in a surface-mount (0.9 x 0.9 x 0.15 inches) or connectorized (1.5 x 1.5 x 0.6 inches) package at custom fixed-frequencies from 5 to >500MHz. The PLXO Series features low jitter (<0.05pSec. RMS at 100MHz, typical), optional internal references and select supply voltages (+3.3, +5, +8, +12 or +15VDC). PLXO devices are ideal for use with A-D/D-A converters, carrier recovery loops, system clocks, or as reference sources for frequency converters.
