Mouser – Latest ADC delivers low power consumption, high SNR and low SFDR (ADS5294)
Aug 1 2012 - Semiconductors [More Semiconductors Articles]Aimed at applications such as ultrasound imaging, communications and multi-channel data acquisition, The Texas Instruments (TI) ADS5294 octal channel 14-Bit, 80MSPS analog to digital converter (ADC) is now available from Mouser. The device provides low power consumption, high SNR, low SFDR, and consistent overload recovery, allowing users to design high performance systems.
The 8-channel ADS5294 ADC has a digital processing block that integrates several commonly used digital functions for improving system performance. The device includes a digital filter module that has built-in decimation filters (with low-pass, high-pass and band-pass characteristics). The decimation rate is also programmable (by 2, 4, or 8). This makes it useful for narrow-band applications, where the filters can be used conveniently to improve SNR and knock-off harmonics while also reducing the output data rate, says the company.
