Mouser – Big-chip white LEDs assure projection of high-lumen light spots (Luminus Devices - SSM-80)
Aug 16 2012 - Switches, Relays & Onboard [More Switches, Relays & Onboard Articles]Available now from Mouser, Luminus Devices’ SSM-80 Big Chip White LEDs were developed for fixture designers who need to project a high-lumen tight spot of light, and are each a point source of high output power and high efficacy.
Luminus’ photonic lattice technology enables large area LED chips with uniform brightness over the entire LED chip surface. The optical power and brightness produced by these large monolithic chips enable solutions which replace arc and halogen lamps where arrays of traditional high power LEDs cannot.
With a thermal resistance from junction to case of 1C/W, Luminus Devices SSM-80 Big Chip White LEDs are designed with high quality materials to provide users with industry leading package thermal conductivity. This allows each LED to be driven at higher current densities while maintaining a low junction temperature, thereby resulting in brighter solutions and longer lifetimes. The package is easy to use and ready to be mounted in the lighting system. The SSM-80 LEDs are also available as SSR-80, which are the same LEDs, each mounted on an aluminium star board.
Typical applications include indoor lighting, track lighting, directional spot lighting, high-output area lighting, high bay lighting, LED light bulbs and MR-16 light engines, says the company.
