Low Power Radio Solutions – New Connect2 development kit for eRA wireless modules (Fortronic RF & Wireless Design)
Jun 11 2012 - Design & Manufacture [More Design & Manufacture Articles]Low Power Radio Solutions is using its appearance at the 2012 Fortronic UK Wireless Forum to launch the Connect2 development kit for its market-leading eRA (easyRadioAdvanced) short-range wireless modules.
The Fortronic RF & Wireless Design one day conference is the UK’s only technically focused forum specifically dedicated to wireless and intended for engineers involved in the design and manufacture of wireless products. The event will host discussions covering a wide range of topics specifically on wireless, wireless sensor and telemetering technologies from major suppliers and be accompanied by an exhibition.
The LPRS Connect2 development kit offers a modular approach to system design for users wishing to incorporate eRA modules in a wireless communication system. The Connect2 kit may be customer configured to meet individual project requirements. Starting with the development platform designers can add the specific modules required for evaluation, USB boards, antenna and USB cables etc.
The recently introduced advanced easyRadio range of eRA transmitters and transceivers incorporates the LPRS proven easyRadio software protocol and builds on the simplicity of use of previous generations of easyRadio (02) modules by remaining true to the original brief of ‘reducing time to market by removing the complexity associated with the radio software development interface’.
The LPRS eRA modules allow developers to change many of the parameters of the radio to suit application specific requirements including the ability to change the bandwidth of the radio from 150KHz down to 12.5KHz, which provides narrow-band performance on a wide-band budget.
Designed with back compatible pin configuration, current easyRadio 02 users can easily upgrade to the ‘advanced’ versions as required and with free flash firmware upgrade tools from LPRS, new updates/features can be quickly programmed, making LPRS eRA a ‘truly future-proof’ wireless solution, says the company.
“Our latest advanced easyRadio modules offer designers a host of soft and firmware control options increasing its versatility greatly. We have introduced our new Connect2 development kit to enable designers to fully explore all these options on the bench before moving on to final design,” said John Sharples, managing director, LPRS. “Our UK designed and manufactured “out of the box” wireless module business has been highly successful and positioned LPRS as a major player in the wireless module market and we expect a lot of interest in our development kit at this year’s Fortronic Forum. We will also be running a very interesting demonstration of easyRadio wireless using open source Arduino on our stand”
