Jun 26 2012 - [More Articles]Data Modul offers an extensive choice of passive-matrix OLED displays (Organic Light Emitting Diode) from Taiwanese market leader WiseChip (formerly Univision).
PMOLEDs (passive-matrix OLEDs) have outstanding optical performance and an ultra-slim design. There are no limitations on the viewing angle, making the display easily readable from all directions. The OLED technology is self-emitting, so there is no need for a backlight system, which allows for a very compact product design.
In OLEDs only the active pixels are driven, which leads to a very high contrast ratio – where ‘black is black’. Thus power consumption and response time can be reduced drastically compared to other technologies.
Monochrome PMOLEDs are available in several colours – white, yellow, blue, green and in different resolutions from 64 x 48 up to 256 x 64 dots. – most of them in smaller sizes from 0.66 inch up to 3.12 inch, and a larger 5.5 inch module. Full colour PMOLEDs with up to 262k colours are available in sizes from 0.95 inch up to 1.69 inch with resolutions from 96 x 64 to 160 x 128 dots, says the company.
