Samtec – Discrete high-performance interconnect system carries almost 30A (Samtec PowerStrip/35)
Feb 21 2012 - Switches, Relays & Onboard [More Switches, Relays & Onboard Articles]Samtec’s robust PowerStrip/35 Discrete Wire Cable Assembly offers rugged features and is seen as ideal for high-performance applications. When mated with Samtec’s PowerStrip/35 high power terminal (PET Series), the system has a current carrying capacity of 28.9A per contact at an ambient temperature of 75C (with two gold-plated pins energized and 10AWG cable).
The PowerStrip/35 Discrete Wire Cable Assembly (PESS Series) is available with 2, 4, 6 or 8 dual leaf blade contacts on a 6,35mm pitch. The system is double- or single-ended, with 10 or 12 AWG discrete wire cable, and choice of assembled lengths. It also features a positive latching system for increased un-mating force, making it ideal for rugged and other harsh environments.
Samtec’s PowerStrip interconnect family is designed to meet a variety of high-current applications, and includes three product levels differentiated by size and power output: PowerStrip/35, PowerStrip/25 and PowerStrip/15. In addition to the discrete wire power system, the PowerStrip™ family includes a power/signal combination cable system, power and power/signal combinations in right angle and vertical orientations, as well as a hinged system and press fit termination for board-level applications, says the company.
