Lapp – Super-fast fibre optic cables for office and industrial applications

A family of super-fast fibre optic cables (FOCs) designed specifically for office and industrial applications has been introduced by Lapp.

There are seven different ranges in the new FOC family from simplex and duplex indoor cables to loose tube and loose tube armoured cables for outdoor applications. All cables in the FOC family provide the many benefits of optical data transmission – speed, security etc – but at a cost designed to interest systems integrators keen to provide customers with a fast, economical networking solution.

Typical of the new family is a distribution cable for indoor applications, which may be specified with 2 to 24 single-mode or multi-mode fibres in a tight or semi-tight low smoke buffer with a low smoke halogen free sheath. For outdoor applications, the product family includes a multi loose tube cable comprising 6, 8, 12 or 18 loose tubes with up to 12 colour coded single-mode, or multi-mode fibres in each, built around a reinforced plastic central member. The common outer sheath is of polyethylene or low smoke halogen free, says the company.
