Jun 29 2007 - Subs & Systems [More Subs & Systems Articles]With a compact ‘system-in-one’ PC that integrates a high-performance multimedia processor, a touch screen and optional wireless communications in a slimline case, Trident is addressing digital signage, kiosk and industrial control applications.
Based on a 1GHz VIA Eden processor, the MMC is a fanless system-in-one with a 10.2-inch wide screen touch panel LCD. Supporting Microsoft Windows XP or Linux operating systems, it is compatible with most multimedia, digital signage, kiosk and HMI applications, making it ideal for the implementation of multimedia embedded systems for retail, vending and industrial environments. The unit, which can be operated in landscape or portrait orientation, is supplied with Ethernet connectivity as standard. WLAN connectivity can be added optionally.
In order to ensure a satisfying experience when running multimedia applications, MMC is equipped with VIA UniChrome Pro II AGP graphics, with MPEG-2/4 WMV9 hardware decoding, and VIA Vinyl 6 channel audio. Trident is offering the platform with three levels of storage, based on the same processor. These are the MMC 10.2 BB barebone, the MMC 10.2 512 with 512MB of DDR2 RAM, and the MMC 10.2 512/40 which adds a 40GB HDD. All three run from a 12VDC supply.
MMC features VESA compliant mountings, making it compatible with most industry standard wall, ceiling and desk monitor supports. The overall dimensions of the screen including housing are 181mm x 283mm. It is just 38mm deep and weighs 2100g, says the company.
