NIC – Stacked film chip capacitors delivering stable performance
Jun 29 2007 - Passives [More Passives Articles]Two new ranges of stacked film chip capacitors have been announced by NIC Components. The NSHC and NSPU series combine small size with stability under voltage, stability over time, immunity from cracking and low dielectric loss making them ideal alternative to higher loss and less stable MLCC capacitors. Both ranges are fully RoHS compliant.
The NSHC series uses a stacked metallized polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) film construction that helps it achieve a wide operating temperature range of up to -55C to +125C. Available case sizes of 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210, 1913 and 2416 allow NIC to offer capacitance values from 100pF to 0.22uF with voltage ratings of either 16VDC or 50VDC. The NSHC series has high heat resistance and delivers very stable temperature, frequency, voltage, bias and dielectric absorption characteristics.
The NSPU series features high capacitance value using stacked metallized acrylic resin film construction. Parts are available in 0805, 1206 and 1210 formats. Capacitance values range from 0.068uF to 1uF with a 16VDC voltage rating. Operating temperature range is -40C to +85C.
Both the NSHC and NSPU series are supplied in tape and reel packaging and designed for reflow soldering processes, says the company.
