Mylox – Compact low-cost 3-inch panel-mount thermal printer
Apr 24 2007 - Subs & Systems [More Subs & Systems Articles]An all-new 3-inch (80mm paper width) direct thermal panel printer has been introduced by Mylox Technologies.
Traditionally, 80mm panel printers have been too bulky and prohibitively expensive – the MLX-2280 is ultra compact. At only 117mm(w) x 66mm(h) x 98mm(d), it fits the industry-standard panel cut out for 2-inch mechanisms and is priced to be competitive against these devices. This gives a higher resolution for graphics printing (576 dots/line) or, more columns in text mode. This allows shorter receipts and conserves paper.
Paper loading is by Clamshell design, it accepts a full sized paper roll (50mm diameter) and prints up to 60mm /second. It can be powered from 5VDC or a variable 9 to 35VDC source and a mains power supply is available. The interface is RS232 but USB and parallel are also available.
Applications include: retail, transportation, warehousing & distribution, ticketing, data logging, remote fault recording, hospitality, in-vehicle, healthcare, fire/alarm & security systems. Mylox also supplies low-cost 2-inch (60mm paper), 24 & 40 column impact versions and a paper rewind unit (all types use the same design and size of casing), says the company.
