Caddock – Ultra-precise film resistors for demanding analog electronics

Apr 28 2006 - Passives [More Passives Articles]

A new series of ultra-stable, low TC, ultra-precision film resistors, developed for use in the most demanding precision analog electronics applications, has been introduced by Caddock .

The USF300 Series provides the widest resistance range, 50ohm to 25Megohm, for a low TC resistor product available in the industry, 5ppm/C, max., -40C to +85C, ref. +25C, says the company. The USF300 Series is available in three models with (voltage and power ratings): USF340 (300V, 0.33W), USF370 (1400V, 0.75W), USF371 (2500V, 0.75W). For ultra-Low TC, the company offers the USF200 Series with a TC of 2 ppm/C, max., -40C to +85C, ref. +25C.

The USF300 Series resistors are manufactured with an alumina (aluminum oxide) ceramic sandwich that offers exceptional thermal performance. The high thermal conductivity of the alumina sandwich construction provides good heat flow away from the resistor element minimizing the temperature rise in the resistor due to power dissipation as compared to ‘plastic package’ low TC resistors. This provides extremely stable operating performance as power is applied to the low TC resistor, says the company.

USF300 Series resistors are available in standard resistance values that are used in high accuracy, precision analog designs. Typical applications include amplifer gain setting, bridge circuits, weighing systems, strain gauge circuits, reference resistors, and precision voltage dividers with input voltages up to 2500V.
