Low-cost directional couplers target wireless systems
Jul 28 2005 - Test & Measurement [More Test & Measurement Articles]A new series of single directional couplers, which provide an economical
means of measuring microwave power in commercial mobile-phone infrastructure
and test systems, is now available in the UK, from Link Microtek.
Manufactured by Narda Microwave, the 3151/61 and 4151/61 series low-cost
couplers are available in a variety of models covering frequency ranges of
820MHz to 980MHz or 1.7GHz to 2.1GHz, with coupling coefficients of 10dB,
20dB or 30dB and a typical flatness of +/-0.2dB. They can be specified with
either SMA or Type N connectors.
A high directivity of typically 25dB makes the devices suitable for
high-accuracy measurements, and they also offer low intermodulation, a low
primary VSWR of typically 1.12:1, and insertion losses as low as 0.1dB.
Excluding connectors, the new couplers have dimensions of 49.78mm (H) x
27.18mm (W), with lengths of either 78.49mm or 114.30mm depending on the
model. All versions are available from stock.
